Due to the current Covid -19 situation all church activities are suspended until further notice

Welcome to the Danish Lutheran Church of New Zealand.

The Church is a private Danish church, which is based on an Evangelical-Lutheran foundation in affiliation with the Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Danish Lutheran Church of New Zealand is affiliated to the Danish organisation “The Danish Church Abroad / Danish Seamen´s Church”, and is under the ecclesiastical supervision of the bishop of Lolland-Falster.

The purpose of the church is to give Danes abroad the possibility of maintaining a connection to the traditions and rituals as we know them from the Danish Folk Church. The Danish Lutheran Church of New Zealand will conduct baptisms, confirmation, weddings and funerals, Danish church services and arrange functions for Danes and their relatives.

The Danish Lutheran Church of New Zealand does not have a church building or a specific address where we meet. The services, weddings, funerals, and social events take place all over New Zealand, depending on the people and congregation who invite the pastor.

Unlike the Danish Folk Church, the Danish Lutheran Church of New Zealand receives no financial support from the Danish government or other organisations. For that reason we ask for a donation for the sacraments and services provided by the Pastor.

You can support the church by donations and gifts and you can become a member of The Danish Lutheran Church of New Zealand

Baptisms  - Weddings - Funerals

If you would like to have your child baptized by the Danish pastor, you need to contact the pastor well in advance, to discus the following course, and expenses. Copies of the Child's birth certificate needs to be presented, as well as parent's baptism/ birth certificates and wedding certificate (if parents are married).

Contact os to hear more about this.

Funeral planning can be overwhelming, especially if you're dealing with the loss of a loved one at the same time. One of the basic first steps you'll need to take in order to begin the funeral planning is to contact a funeral director. They will take care of the legal and practical regarding the funeral. If the family or friends wants a Danish pastor to be in charge of the services you are welcome to contact the pastor, and together we will discuss practicalities and expenses
